Base Construction

The main foundation consists of a large block of high-strength concrete. High tensile steel foundation rods are set into the concrete and are attached to and through the foundation base plate. The base plate includes the hinge-pin attachment, which is used to raise and lower the turbine.

The base foundation consists of approximately 16.5 m3 of strong-mix concrete (35 Newton) which should be prepared and poured in one load.

.
It is vital to ensure that base plate is completely level.

The winch anchor foundation consists of a 1.5 m x 1.5 m x 1.2 m cube or equivalent. It should be located on the opposite side of the base plate to the hinge pin attachment and placed exactly in line with the centre of the base plate, perpendicular to the line of the hinge brackets.

Allow plenty of time for the foundation to set and harden fully before erecting the turbine. We recommend a hardening period of at least 3 weeks.
