Our interest in alternative sources of energy began in early 1990 when we purchased Greave Head Farm. The astronomical cost of connecting to the National Grid influenced our decision to look at alternatives.
After a disastrous first attempt with a turbine imported from America, and a whole year lost,  we spotted what must at that time have been one of Proven Energy's very early machines. We ordered one immediately.

The 2.2 kW machine was delivered by Gordon and Susanne Proven one evening in 1991. The turbine was up and running in a few days and we have not had a power cut since!

Eventually we replaced the 2.2 kW turbine with the Proven 6 and over the years have developed controls so that any excess energy is used to heat the building. This reliable and extremely efficient system has been replicated and installed in dozens of off-grid homes and farms.

New technology, in particular the latest inverters such as the SMA Sunny Island, allows the freedom to position the turbine further away from buildings and other obstructions to take best advantage of a cleaner wind without the cost of large diameter cables.
