Thinking of investing in a wind turbine?

Installing a Small Scale Wind turbine has never been easier. With energy costs rising  year on year, coupled with higher energy demand - micro-generation can play an important role in tackling climate change whilst also offering users the ability to not only save, but also earn an additional income at the same time!

Feed-In Tariffs (Clean Energy Cash Back)

Feed in Tariffs (Clean Energy Cash Back) were introduced by the Government as a mechanism to scale up the deployment of renewable technologies with farmers, land owners, commercial and domestic electricity users in the UK for generating their own renewable energy.

Customers of small wind turbines will receive 16p per kWh of electricity that they generate even if using the electricity themselves – in addition customers will also receive 4.77p for every kWh deemed as exported to the grid. The export is paid at 50% of your total generation.

This incentive offers customers a fantastic return on investment as well as protection from rising costs of electricity purchased from the grid as this can now be off-set from generating your own renewable energy.

How do the Feed-In Tariffs help?

The Tariffs have three financial benefits:

  • A payment for all the electricity you produce, even if you use it yourself
  • Additional payments for electricity you export into the grid or is deemed as export (50% of total generation)
  • A reduction on your standard electricity bill, from using energy you produce yourself

Who is eligible?

Anyone who installs an approved product under the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) can receive Feed in Tariff’s provided the technology is installed and commissioned by an MCS certified installer.

Kingspan Wind Turbines (KW6 & KW15) are fully certified and eligible to receive the Feed in Tariff payments
