At the Yorkshire and Humber Microgeneration Awards in Harrogate on 31st March,
John Denton was presented with an award for his wind turbine, which was installed in November 2010. His 15kW turbine will power up to 60% of his electricity consumption.
The installation was carried out by Eagle Power of Ripponden near Halifax and includes a heat dump system which means any surplus electricity can be diverted into the Denton’s water heating.
John fought continuous issues around planning to get his wind turbine installed and explained “Planning is always a potential nightmare. Some planners think wind turbines are secret nuclear processing plants and you have to be very proactive in talking to them.”
